Broadleaf Plantain Tea Recipe

This easy herbal tea is soothing, nutritious, and perfect for enjoying the benefits of broadleaf plantain. For more about the benefits read our Post: The Plantain Plant Offers Many Benefits. So, whether you want a natural remedy or just a calming Tea, here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:

• 5-6 fresh broadleaf plantain leaves (or 1-2 teaspoons of dried leaves)

• 2 cups of water

• Optional: honey, lemon, or other herbs for flavor

Instructions:

1. Harvest the Leaves

• Pick fresh, healthy leaves from a clean, pesticide-free area. Give them a good rinse to remove any dirt or debris.

2. Prepare the Leaves

• Chop or tear the fresh leaves into smaller pieces to release their flavor and beneficial compounds. If you’re using dried leaves, you can skip this step.

3. Boil the Water

• Bring 2 cups of water to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.

4. Steep the Leaves

• Add the plantain leaves to the water and let them steep for 10-15 minutes. Cover the pot or cup to keep the steam (and the medicinal properties) in.

5. Strain and Serve

• Strain the tea into your favorite mug. Add honey or lemon if desired for extra flavor.

6. Sip and Enjoy

• Drink while it’s warm to soothe your throat, boost your digestion, or just relax.

Pro Tip:

Want to mix it up? Try adding other herbs like mint, chamomile, or ginger for a flavor twist and added health benefits.

That’s it! A cup of broadleaf plantain tea is simple, natural, and surprisingly tasty.
Give it a try!
